Allow me to introduce myself: I'm Michael Kamansky, deeply passionate about the piano and music. This passion compels me to pursue a role as a piano teacher in our wonderful valley, where music and the arts are not only distinctive but also essential to our community's cultural tapestry. Initially, as an advanced piano student myself, I found it hard to envision becoming a teacher, given the significant responsibility it entails. However, as my own piano skills developed, it became clear that I possess a talent worth sharing, and I am enthusiastic about imparting my knowledge to others. Considering the local shortage of piano instructors, I see teaching piano as both a duty and a joy.
You might be curious about my varied and rich background. In my youth, I was engaged with keyboards and organs but had to temporarily set aside my musical pursuits. Eventually, life granted me the opportunity to rekindle my love for the piano, leading to an intense connection with the instrument. Under Lynette Westendorf's guidance, I've reached an advanced level in piano playing and developed a profound interest in music theory. Additionally, I'm a beginner cello student, which enhances my teaching skills by keeping me attuned to the struggles of learning a new instrument.
The time I spent away from music has been uniquely formative. My diverse life experiences significantly contribute to my teaching abilities. Academically, I hold a Business degree with a focus on economics and a minor in philosophy. My professional journey includes roles as a software engineer and a management consultant, where I specialized in project management, organizational development, and the creation of successful software products. On a personal level, I've excelled in various activities like elite-level water polo, mountain climbing, biathlon, cross-country skiing, fly fishing, and more. This period, although distancing me from the piano, enriched my musical interpretation and teaching perspective.
I am excited about the prospect of contributing to my community by sharing my life experiences and piano expertise. I enjoy teaching students of all ages and backgrounds and am eager to be your piano teacher.
